You go camping, hiking, kayaking and boating to get AWAY from your cell phone. But I personally think having Wi Fi coverage at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area is a GREAT idea.
How about for safely? I had a boat on Lake Mead for a long time and yes, I did have a marine radio. But two forms of communication are great when you get into trouble. And you will eventually, because boats are very persnickety and my Bayliner, at least, broke down often enough!
And don't you want your Facebook friends to see how much fun you are having boating and hiking????
Monday the National Park Service announced it is working with a Wi-Fi Internet provider to provide Internet access in the 1.5 million acre national park. You will have to pay a fee, but we locals now have to pay for parking on the Strip, so what else is new?
For the record, the Park Service currently offers FREE wireless Internet access at the Lake Mead Visitor Center--a great place for Facebook Live videos of our gorgeous bridge.
