Las Vegas is known for a quirky, kinky international competitions, but brainy is usually not one of them.
Today and tomorrow you can head to The Western Hotel on Fremont Street downtown to watch theZappos Memoriad Las Vegas Games 2016. This is a world memory, mental calculation and speed reading competition. To date 162 participants form 27 countries will participate in times events like:
Finding the square roots of 10-digit numbers
Multiplying 20-digit numbers
Oh, and they have to do this all in their heads.
Las Vegas resident Scott Flansburg set the Guiness World Record for "Fastest Human Calculator." He correctly added 38 to itself 36 times in 15 seconds in his head.
Like the Olympics, the Memoriad happens every four years. It was in Turkey in 2012.
Personally, I would have trouble adding 38 plus 38 in my head in 15 seconds. But I loved the TV show Numbers and find Scorpion fun. Hopefully the Memoriad will be just as entertaining!
Here's a great reward for this horrible election season. If you voted,
"Working with eXp Realty was a pleasure. When we started, we had no idea what we wanted, but our buyer agent helps us figure out the pros and cons of all our options. Our agent went the extra mile willing to put in the extra effort to answer our questions, to make sure we were happy with our decisions, and educated about the market and local area."
